For years we’ve heard “Make sure to drink your water”.  For most, not only is drinking water not fun, it leads to multiple trips to the bathroom.  These are 2 of the most common complaints that I hear from my clients.  Before I give you a few tips on how you can make your water drinking process less dreadful, I will address very quickly the 2 big things that drinking water can do for discoloration.

Number 1, Have you ever noticed that when someone is really ill (like the little old lady from church that you have’nt seen for a while) they can oftentimes appear darker?  It’s not your imagination, with illness comes much less of a desire to `drink water and even restrictions on water intake.  This lack of hydration can results in a shrunken, dehydrated and darker skin looking skin tone.  Here’s An example that I often use to make my hydration point...Imagine if you had a burgundy party ballooon and you attached it to a faucet and slowly and continuously start filling it with water.  It would start out burgundy in color, then dark red, then red, then a dark pink, then pink to a light  pink and then possibly to whitish (if the balloon did’nt burst;).  The same effect happens with a dark spot or area on your skin.

Secondly, and very importantly, if your system is well hydrated it will function optimally which includes your skin.  This means that as you use products to even out any discoloration that you are experiencing they will work better because your skin is working optimally.

I promised you a few tips that I hope will make your water drinking experience less of a chore.  Not sure how much water you need?  Here’s your hydration equation “1/2 your body weight in ounces”. Example...you weight 100 lbs, 1/2 of 100 is 50.

Adding chlorophyll (nature’s sunshine brand in particular) gives your water a nice minty freshness and makes it much easier to drink.  Also, adding fruit and or vegetable blends can help with adding flavor.  These things should make it easier to hydrate!
